LAND DISPUTES BETWEEN ASABA AND IBUSA COMMUNITIES WILL SOON BE AMICABLY RESOLVED – ASAGBA AZINGE.
Asaba – His Royal Majesty, Asagba Prof. Epiphany Chigbogu Azinge, SAN, OON, FNIALS, FICMC, LLD(HC), KSJI, KSG, expressed optimism that land-related disputes between Asaba and Ibusa communities will soon become a thing of the past.
Nna Agu gave the assurance while warmly receiving Chief Barr. Fred Ajudua, Onwa Ibusa, his wife Hon. Barr. Mrs. Princess Ajudua, and members of their entourage in his Palace.
“We have truly come a long way from the good old days of St. Patrick’s College, Asaba till date. This relationship is not just between us, but has been passed down to our children, making it a family affair,” His Majesty stated.
According to Asagba, m Azinge, the Onwa of Ibusa is the face that Asaba Kingdom knows and interacts with, hence engagements with him on issues of common boundary disputes between both kingdoms are very significant.
The Monarch recalled Chief Ajudua’s past efforts towards peaceful reconciliation meetings on land matters between both kingdoms, noting that such contributions will not be taken for granted.
“Your coming here today is a bold statement that you are not antagonistic and are ready to embrace peaceful coexistence. I charge you to also meet with the leadership of all Asaba villages that share boundaries with Ibusa to enable an amicable conclusion without rancor,” Nna Agu said.
He emphasized that the traditional institution exists to find means of resolving issues. “Together, we are working to resolve all related land dispute matters, it is doable. I am optimistic that we shall settle this collectively and continue to live as brothers,” HRM affirmed.
Earlier, Chief Barr. Fred Ajudua, Onwa Ibusa, on behalf of his community, appreciated His Majesty for the warm reception. He apologized on behalf of a brother who used foul language against Asaba Kingdom on social media, stating that a rebuttal has already been issued.
Onwa Ibusa reiterated that his long-standing relationship with the Asagba is not in doubt. “Asaba Kingdom is lucky to have you as King. I wish you a long and peaceful reign,” he adorned Nna Agu.
Chief Ajudua noted that the visit was aimed at ensuring peaceful coexistence between Asaba and Ibusa communities.
